We sell one-of-kind Antiques. An Antique by definition is a piece of furniture, decorative object or work of art produced in a former period, belonging to the past, not modern, dating from a period long ago, in the tradition or style of an earlier period.
We Specialize in restoring Four-Poster Rope Beds. Rope beds were not beds made of rope. They were wooden beds that were strung with rope to support the mattressess. The ropes were woven in and out of holes that were drilled in all four rails of the bed frame in an open basket weave design. They were put on as tightly as possible when newly roped. But they tended to stretch and allow the mattress to sag after use. Periodic tightening with a rope-key was necessary.
This is what we specialize in, restoring and refinishing these types of beds. All our beds are genuine beds of their period and we restore them to standard sizes, twin, full, queen, and king. We have over 250 beds in stock allowing our customers to choose the style, size and color of their antique bed.
We purchase our beds from all across New England. We adapt the old styles to fit modern size bedding and mattressess. They are meticulously and painstakingly restored and refinished to their former glory while keeping originality, appearance and quality in mind.
Our Beds are available in a variety of sizes and woods. They are available with intricate designs from four poster beds to canopy beds, to heavily carved beds to simple cannon ball beds.
